Snake Plant

Money Tree

Hopefully upstairs

Snake Plant

Ain't no light up there. hot too. Swelterin'.

Money Tree

Well, Spider went up and never came back.

Snake Plant

Yeah but everybody ain’t built for that shower window.

Money Tree

I'll probably be in the bedroom by the front window. Her side of the bed. I was her first, you know. I was limp when she rescued me from that cheap green plastic. She believes in me. What I bring. The Feng Shui of it all.

Snake Plant

Then why move ya.

Money Tree

May be too many of us in one place, all of us trying to catch the best shine.

Snake Plant

That's a word.

Money Tree

What about you? I've noticed you've been brown lately.

Snake Plant

Just some yellow on my edges. She forgot. Watered me twice. I'm alright-ain't like that burn Palm's catchin' over there.

Money Tree

True. Hey no one's opened the blinds yet. Something's wrong.

Snake Plant

Probably still sleep. Mornins ain't been the same since-

an extended pause

Money Tree

She knows we like the early light.

Man opens blinds. The plants exhale.

Money Tree

I’m getting thirsty.

Snake Plant

Doubt he'll water us. Won't mess up her schedule.

(beat)

Don't think ya movin' today

Money Tree (sighs)

There's always next SUNday
